Olympic torch travels through Anshan

The Beijing Olympic torch has wrapped up its journey of the city of Anshan, in northeast Liaoning Province.

The 7.8 kilometer relay route kicked off this morning at Anshan's Yufoshan Square.

The first runner was Wang Yifu, head coach of the Chinese national shooting team, and the country's most experienced Olympian.He has participated in six successive Olympics from 1984 to 2004.

The 175 torch bearers also included other Olympic champions such as Sun Fuming, Song Nina and Yuan Hua. The city of Anshan covers an area of more than 9,000 square kilometers and has a population of over 3 million.

It is famous for its steelmaking, jade mining, and Yangge dancing. The relay ended with Wen Baoman, a representative from the Anshan Steel and Iron Corporation, lighting up the Olympic flame cauldron in front of Anshan First High School.
