October is the best time for autumn sightseeing across China. Thanks to the upcoming Golden Week holiday that falls on Oct. 1st, also China's National Day, people will have plenty of time and options to check out the magical season.

1. Daocheng City

Located on the southwestern border of Sichuan Province at an average elevation of 3,800 meters and east of the Tibetan Plateau, Daocheng is simply a primitive oil painting with an azure blue sky, flaming maples and golden fields of poplar. All these colors are submerged in the pastoral scenery of the rolling landscape.

It is unfair to recommend just a few spots, but the enthralling varied colors of the maples along Mount Echu in Riwa County are certainly worth a six-hour journey. And, the well-known "red grassland" can be seen only during October since it will only last for about 15 days per year.

2. Miyaluo Scenic Area

Situated in Aba County in southwest Sichuan province, Miyaluo is the largest maple scenic in China and is open to the public. Boasting a marvelous maple forest, Miyaluo features Tibetan and Qiang ethnic buildings among seas of various pines and birches.
