Officials with the Ueno Zoo said Wednesday that the male giant panda cub born in the zoo last Thursday died of pneumonia on Wednesday morning. The mother Shin Shin, whose Chinese name is "Xian Nu", and her mate Ri Ri, whose Chinese name is "Bi Li", were brought to Tokyo last February for a 10-year stay under a joint research agreement on the endangered species.
