An environmentally friendly farm, which covers an area of 1.3 million square meters, has been opened since March, in Guizhou Province, southwest China. The farm has 1,500 luxury-roofed cages built along the hills. Each cage covers 6 square meters and is built one meter above the floor. The cages are made of steel and covered by colored steel tiles and insulators. A cage can hold one rooster and 35 hens with a perch, sand pit, automatic water supply system and manger. There are also special rooms for hens to lay eggs. Compared to old crowded cages, the ventilated ones are referred to as villas for chicken. [By Lu Wei/China.org.cn]
