Yuan Ling, born in 1924. Yuan hailed from Qingyuan County of Hebei Province, and joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1939. He became a member of the Eighth Route Army and studied in a photographic class in the Central Hebei Military Region in 1942. This photo was his first, taken when he was 18.
