Abdul Vali Aimar, 38, has two wives and five children. He used to be in the hat business in Moyu. Five years ago, he got stuck in jade digging in the hopes of creating his own fortune. Two years ago, he sold a piece of jade at 100,000 yuan (about US$16,105) and spent 20,000 yuan on building a new house. Since then he has gained very little from jade digging.
