Ruins of ancient village unearthed in C. China

Editor's note: The ruins of an ancient village, dating back to the Yangshao Culture period 5,000-6,000 years ago, have recently been excavated on the bank of the Qili River in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province. The ruins measure 300 meters from east to west and 400 meters from north to south. Surrounded by a moat, the ruins have three separate areas for residences, living activities and burial. The unearthed relics include three building foundations, three stoves, 39 graves, 140 pits, two funeral urns, and a large number of pottery, bits of clams, stone and bone artifacts.
