Kunkun, a 8-year-old child living with his grandparents in a village of Xiuhong County, Sichuan Province, is an HIV carrier.  The boy's mother, who left home when the child was three, is thought to have passed the infection on to her son during her pregnancy. Kunkun is not afraid of dogs, and every time he sees a dog, he plays with it. The local government has drafted a plan to help Kunkun after media report and provided him with free anti-AIDS treatment, psychological therapy, finding a school for his studies and a full-time companion to look after him.
