Yang Shijun studies the plane design in Changchun, northeast China's Jilin Province. Yang majored in industrial and civil engineering at university and studied basic plane building. He also taught himself through studying and maneuvering models. Yang downloaded the design from the Internet and spent more than one year building the plane at a cost of over 100,000 yuan (US$16,000). With a wingspan of 9.5 meters, the plane is five meters tall and 2.5 meters long. It has a maximum speed of 120 km per hour. Yang built the plane in memory of his late father who was a pilot for 29 years. The plane bears the number 3695, the flight ID of his late father.
