Editor's note: Ma Xiaoyuan began to learn pole dancing in 2009 when she was a sophomore at the Guiyang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine based in southwest China's Guizhou Province. Since graduation in 2011, she has successively worked as a writer and director at a TV station, comedian in a theater, and currently a pole-dancing teacher at a workshop she established. Most of her students are urban white-collar workers who choose pole dancing for physical fitness. Ma has divided her courses into three categories – competition, performance and fitness, with the latter as her main operational philosophy and future development orientation.
