The six major buildings of Beijing's Forbidden City are illuminated on May 18 to provide tourists with a better view of their gorgeous interior decorations. This is the first time these ancient palaces have seen electric illumination. The illuminated buildings include the Taihe Hall (Hall of Supreme Harmony), Zhonghe Hall (Hall of Central Harmony) and Baohe Hall (Hall of Preserving Harmony) in the outer court, and the Qianqing Palace (Palace of Heavenly Purity), Jiaotai Hall (Hall of Union) and Kunning Palace (Palace of Earthly Tranquility) in the inner court.
