Editor's note: "Argentinean creamy pumpkins" are enjoying a bountiful harvest this autumn in Zhangye City, Gansu Province. The new variety of pumpkins – imported from the South American country – are huge in size, bright and lustrous in color and have a high sugar content. Most importantly, they taste good! With a thick and sturdy skin, the pumpkins can be easily transported and can be stored for eight months at a normal atmospheric temperature. They also can be made into healthcare products. This year, an area of 10,000-mu (about 666.7 hectares) "Argentinean creamy pumpkins" has been developed at Dawan Village in Zhangye; it is expected to produce an output value of over 35 million yuan (about US$5.25 million) for local farmers.
