Editor's Note: Feng Huageng, who turns 80 this year, has become a billiards trainer to teach people aged between 19 and 70 in a local club in Changchun, Jilin Province. Her enthusiasm for the game, which started nine years ago when she was relaxing between sets in a table tennis match has become a legendary, highlighted by national media outlets during the "Double Ninth Festival," an occasion falling on the ninth day of the ninth month (today) under the Chinese lunar calendar to celebrate and respect elderly people across the country.

Once she lifted a cue and hit the various colored balls, watching them running around the table, she found herself incorrigibly caught up in the game that was soon to become a vital hobby in her spare time.

"Billiards will never be exclusive to young people; it can be played by old people, and they can play it well," Feng said. The old woman gained credentials as a second-ranking match referee in 2011.

"Billiards is a splendid game. Old people are encouraged to discover a much more exciting world around them by taking part in sports games," Feng said.
