Women train with toy babies at a maternity matron school in Beijing in Novemebr, 2016. Trainees can get their vocational qualification certificates and become postnatal attendants after an 8-day training project which costs 1,700 yuan ($246.6). A postnatal attendant, or yuesao in Chinese, encompasses the role of nanny, nurse, cook and pre-school teacher. During peaks in birthrates, the demand for the service usually exceeds supply.
