Editor's note: A steamed bun restaurant in Qingdao, Shandong Province, is well known to local people not only because of its delicious products, but also because of its unique, extraordinary kitchenware – a 36-layer, four-meter-high steamer. Every day, workers in the restaurant perform a wonderful stunt – they use a two-meter ladder to pile up buns for steaming layer by layer and then climb up again to retrieve them when cooked. During the steaming process, the whole area is filled with a strong fragrance that stimulates a keen appetite among those present. According to the restaurant owner, a total of 22 bags of flour have to be used every day to hand-make more than 240 layers of steamed buns to meet demand.
