Editor's note: An international ceramic art exhibition is being held at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province. The artworks come from 36 contemporary artists from nine countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Australia, South Korea and Finland. One section, entitled "Welcome to the World of 10,000 Gifts" by South Korean artist Woo Kwan Ho, has particularly attracted a large number of visitors because of its distinctive promotion. Here, each visitor can take away one piece from the 10,000 ceramic works on display simply by sending a short message via WeChat to the South Korean artist. Visitors have praised the creative approach as a way of Internet-era thinking meant to shorten the distance between artist and audience. Since the exhibition opened, 30 percent of the South Korean artists' ceramic works have been taken away by visitors.
