Police bust company for information abuse

Editor's note: Police in southern China's Guangdong Province announced on Feb. 28 that they arrested six gangs which had been involved in the infringement and abuse of citizens' personal information. A total of 138 suspects based in 14 hideouts were detained, and more than 100 million pieces of personal data, 2,000 bank cards, several computers, cell phones and data storage devices were all seized.

 

A crime gang, disguised as an asset management company, are seized by the Guangdong policeon Feb. 27, 2017, after starting their day at work. The company bought bad loans from banks and tried to profit from collecting debt. It bought debtors' information regarding hotel stays, telephones, and package deliveries and sent out its staff to collect debts. [Photo/VCG]
