Editor's note: A new model high-speed electric multiple unit (EMU) train departed from Beijing for Shanghai on June 26, marking the inauguration of the CR400AF train, also known as "Fuxing" ('Reinvigoration' in Chinese). At the same time, an identical train was sprinting in the opposite direction on the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway line.

China holds complete intellectual property rights of the "Fuxing" bullet train. It has a top speed of 400 kph and can maintain a consistent speed of 350 kph; however, for the moment, it will cruise at around 310 kph in conformity with the current national railway operation chart.
