Combo photo shows daily life of Wang Xiuying, a survivor of Nanjing Massacre, a heinous crime committed by the Japanese militarists during World War II in 1937, in Nanjing, capital of China. Photo taken on June, 17, 2017 shows Wang (C), her sons Ma Mingsheng (L) and Ma Mingqiang at the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders (C, bottom). Other photos taken on Sept. 28, 2017 show Wang at home and residential community. Wang was born on Oct. 6, 1925. Her uncle Wang Changsheng and cousin Wang Jusen were taken away by the Japanese invaders in 1937 and never came back. Wang's husband passed away in 1991, and now she lives together with her daughter. The year 2017 marks the 80th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre, in which more than 300,000 Chinese were killed by the Japanese invaders who occupied Nanjing on Dec. 13, 1937, marking the start of six weeks of destruction, pillage, rape and slaughter in the city. There are only less than 100 living survivors of the atrocity. Reporters from Xinhua spent many years to look for the survivors of Nanjing Massacre and record their current lives.
