Chinese entertainment giant Huayi Brothers Media Corp. and major fashion outlet Harper's Bazaar China inaugurated a new cross-industry gala to honor outstanding players in the world of entertainment.

Held on Monday night, the Fashion Pop gala handed awards to director Ning Hao, screenwriter You Xiaoyin, songwriter Zhao Yingjun, singer Jeffrey Dong Youlin, and musical group NZBZ as well as actors Hu Jun and Xia Yu for their contributions in the fashion, film, and music industries.

Zhao Lei, who helms the fashion branch of Huayi Brothers, said he hoped the Fashion Pop gala can be a credible platform which integrates various industries related to showbusiness.

"The music, film and fashion industries all have their own award ceremonies and galas, but they may be outdated," Zhao said. "And this new one can build a bridge for lovers of pop culture, fashion trends, music and film, as those industries and elements are closely related, especially due to the fast growth of China's entertainment sector and the rapid development of the internet and social networks."

"Our intention in holding such a gala is to fuse fashion, music, film and brand elements together to make a cross-industry hybrid event, making more creative possibilities for the future of entertainment and arts industries," added Sha Xiaoli, editor in chief of Harper's Bazaar China.
