The combined photo shows Pan Jiehui, an impoverished villager, practices to play Lusheng, a reed-pipe wind instrument, at the Shuanglonggou Forest Tourist Resort on July 18, 2018 (L, top) and July 20, 2018 (R), and prepares for performances with team members (L, bottom) in Rongshui Miao Autonomous County, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, July 19, 2018. Working as a staff member at the Shuanglonggou Forest Tourist Resort, Pan Jiehui is paid 5,000 RMB yuan (about 733 U.S. dollars) per month, and giving folk custom performances to visitors provides him with extra income. Due to harsh environmental conditions, Rongshui has long been a less developed area in China. Up to now, there are still 76,800 impoverished people living in the county. In recent years, the local government carries out effective methods for poverty alleviation, helping local people to build roads, repair houses, improve education and develop industry.
