Editor's note: One hundred and forty miles northeast of the Temple of Confucius in Qufu, east China's Shandong province is Shandong Lingshan Glazed Glass Cultural Creation Co. Ltd. – the world's largest manufacturer of handmade thermoplastic glazed glass. Situated in the city of Zibo, the company continues the rich history of the area with its traditional glazed glass art – a unique technique developed over 2,600 years ago and listed today in China as a national intangible heritage.

Zibo, in Shandong province is one of the original places for the production of glazed glass in the world. Using simple and primitive tools, the technicians expertly blow, pull, roll, chase, cut, twine, knead and press at a temperature of over 800 degrees Celsius. [Photo by Chris.
