Freshwater sardines now on endangered species list

Freshwater sardines locally known as "tawilis" are sold at a market in Quezon City, the Philippines, Jan. 24, 2019. The freshwater sardines Tawilis, a fish which can only be found in Philippines' Taal Lake, is now an endangered species, Philippine media reported on Thursday. A study conducted by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) says that tawilis, also known as bonbon sardines or freshwater sardinella, was marked as an endangered species.
