Yanqing, host of the current Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition, celebrates the Dragon Boat Festival with colorful events that draw tourists from near and far. The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, falls on June 7 this year. During the holiday, people have the traditions of eating zongzi, a traditional Chinese food made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves, drinking realgar wine (xionghuangjiu) and holding dragon boat race.
