Editor's Note: The finals of the 2019 International Dota 2 Championships, or TI9, opened in Shanghai on Tuesday with a record prize pool of over US$33 million. Sixteen teams from around the world will compete in the six-day event, and the champion team will take home 45.5% of the prize money—more than US$15 million—according to the organizers. It is the first time for China to host the annual competition that had been held since 2011.
