Editor's note: China's Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month on the Chinese lunar calendar every year. It falls on September 13 this year.

Millions of Chinese will be on the move to visit family and friends during the three-day national holiday. It is an occasion for families to gather together, taking delight in eating moon cakes and appreciating the beauty of the full moon.

A series of activities were held for citizens to celebrate the festival at Beijing Folk Custom Museum, located in Dongyue Temple, Beijing, on Sept. 12 and 13.
