Yanqing embraces the Seniors' Day

A gala show is staged in Cimuchuan village, Dazhuangke township, northwestern Beijing's Yanqing district, on October 6, to celebrate the upcoming Chongyang Festival, Chinese seniors' day to pay respect to the seniors that falls on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, which is on October 7 this year. Chinese people tend to climb mountains, fly kites and have chrysanthemum cakes to mark the festival. With 67,000 people aging above 60, or, 23.4 percent of its total population, Yanqing will hold 40 activities for the seniors including voluntary service, volunteer medical consultation in communities and publicizing the knowledge of prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease in October.
