Mass speed skating marathon held in Yanqing

The 2019-2020 National Mass Speed Skating Marathon Series of China (Beijing Yanqing Session) was launched on the ice rink of Guishui River in northwestern Beijing's Yanqing district on Jan 11. The Yanqing session attracted over 100 skaters to compete from Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Inner Mongolia.

The competition included races of men's 10,000-meter, women's 5,000-meter, teenagers' 2,000-meter and 3,000-meter, and 4,000-meter relay.

The 2019-2020 national mass speed skating marathon series consisted of 20 sessions held in provinces and autonomous regions of Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and Ningxia.

Yanqing has been building enthusiasm for winter sports after becoming one of the venues for the 2022 Winter Olympics. The district has so far organized 32 winter sports events involving 120,000 people.
