Over recent years, Xuanen county in Enshi Tujia and Miao autonomous prefecture of Hubei province, has been working hard to protect, pass down and popularize its intangible cultural heritage.

In order to help boost tourism, an intangible cultural heritage base featuring creative products has been set up in the area, allowing visitors the chance to make items inspired by the local culture. These items, such as wood carvings, Nuo opera masks and Tujia brocade (known locally as "xilankapu"), have grown in popularity with many becoming bestsellers.
