Ju Lei (1st L) instructs students in practicing Baduanjin during a night class at the Tianjin Youth Palace in north China's Tianjin, April 26, 2024. As night falls, the classrooms of the Tianjin Youth Palace are brightly lit. A group of young people dressed in sportswear are practicing Baduanjin, an ancient Chinese qigong exercise combining movement. Next door, the melodious tunes of ethnic dances can be heard. In the painting classroom, everyone is holding brushes and listening to the teacher's guidance in front of their canvases. Night school, as an educational form, is "breaking" into the view of young people in a brand-new way. For Lyu Xinlei, the youth night school has become an important destination for her after work. "In the past, I would mostly dine out or go shopping with friends after work. Participating in the youth night school not only helps me relax and enrich my life, but also gives me an opportunity to make new friends," Lyu said. At the end of 2023, a branded event of youth night school organized by local authorities was officially launched in Tianjin. Popular courses are often fully booked as soon as they are available. (Xinhua/Zhao Zishuo)
