The Brazilian Confederation of Volleyball announced on Friday the replacement for Gustavo, who is recovering from an injury.
Gustavo recently claimed that he would come out of his national team retirement in order to participate in the friendly series of matches against the United States.
After taking a sliver medal at the Beijing Olympics, Gustavo said that he would no longer play for the Brazilian national team. Recently, Gustavo accepted the invitation by the national team's head coach Bernardinho to return to the national side, but he declined the offer later.
Gustavo explained that he is recovering from an injury and will not be able to participate in the five matches from Sept. 22 to 27.
Gustavo is replaced by Tiago Barth.
Gustavo added that as soon as he recovers, he will play for the Brazilian national volleyball team again.
