Hosts China only needed two quarters to outclass South Korea 111-58 in the 2nd FIBA Asian women's under-16 basketball championship on Wednesday.

With stronger and taller players in the paint, China overwhelmed in both offensive and defensive ends to grab the lead 28-20 in the first quarter. After boosting a 8-0 run in the second, China extended the lead to 54-35 to enter the second half.

China feasted the rebounds superiority 74-18 and 18-7 second chance points to score 78 points in the paint comparing with South Korea's 32. The whole last two periods became garbage time before the home team finally trounced South Korea 111-58.

Chinese center Yang Hengyu grabbed a game-high 30 points, followed by point guard Yang Liweis 18 points. South Korea's Shin Jihyun had 21 points to lead the team.

"We're making progress but I didn't expect such an easy win," said China head coach Wang Guizhi.

"We did a good job in defence and rebounds, while 30 turnovers are too much which is a little bit unbearable," Wang added.
