Real Madrid and Barcelona have rejected proposals to play the Spanish Super Cup in Beijing, in the famous Bird's Nest stadium, despite the previous agreement made between the Spanish Football Federation and the Chinese promoter United Vansen International Sport.

Spanish Football Federation and United Vansen Int'l Sport reached a deal that would see the Supercopa played in China for five of the next seven years. The Spanish Football Federation will receive €30M ($37.7M) from the deal and will give €3M ($3.8M) to each finalist.

The two Spanish giants announced their decision at a conference last Tuesday. The rest of the clubs considered the Federation's offer to be acceptable.

However, the decision came as a big surprise, and rules out any chance of an El Clásico playing in China, although the deal was to be made irrespective of the finalists.
