Australian teenage surfer Tyler Wright moved to the top of the 2013 ASP Women's World Championship tour standings on Saturday by winning the Colgate Plax Girls Rio Pro.
The 19-year-old beat compatriot Sally Fitzgibbons in the final with a score of 17.8 in three-foot waves at Rio's Barra da Tijuca beach.
Fitzgibbons, who won last year's Rio Pro, ended Saturday's final with a score of 15.67.
Wright now leads the championship with 40,000 points, ahead of Hawaii's
Carissa Moore (38,200) and Fitzgibbons (34,200).
"This feels pretty good," Wright said. "This whole event has been stepping stones for me. I started off a bit shaky and this is my first event where my family is not here with me.
"It's awesome to move to the top of the rankings, but I'm honestly not thinking about the world title. I'm just having fun surfing and enjoying each event and we'll see what happens at the end of the year."
South Africa's Bianca Buitendag, also 19, finished third in the best result of her career to date.
