Nico Rosberg takes pole position at Spanish Grand Prix

Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg was the quickest on Saturday at the qualifying sessions for the Formula One Spanish Grand Prix.

Qualifying sessions were held only 24 hours before the final race on Sunday when German driver Rosberg will start the Spanish Grand Prix from the front row.

The other Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton was the fastest in the first two qualifying sessions and will start from second spot, while Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel was the third one and Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen the fourth.

Spanish Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso and local favorite will start in the fifth place on Sunday despite fast time in the practice session of Saturday morning. He was very positive about his achievement stating that the fifth position was already expected.

"We can be competitive. We need to start well and have a race where we can take advantage of the car's performance", he said.

The Spanish Grand Prix is being held in the Circuit de Catalunya in Montmelo, 32 kilometers away from Barcelona. The Spanish Grand Prix started on May 10 and will finish on May 12.
