The China Golf Association and HSBC yesterday announced the re-signing of the China Junior Golf Program for another three years to support the grassroots development of the sport in China.

As part of the program, the HSBC China Junior Golf Open was held in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, in January and, according to the schedule this year, five tournaments will be held from this month to September in Zhuhai, Beijing, Hebei, Kunming and Nanjing before the final in Shanghai in October. "The long-term career objective of our collaboration with HSBC is to nurture a team of young golfers into professional golf athletes, so as to represent China at the Olympics," said Zhang Xiaoning, director of Multi Ball Games Administrative Center of General Administration of Sport of China. Since its inception in 2007, the program, as the only official junior golf development program sanctioned by the CGA, has served as a platform of growth for budding golf talents.
