Mark Jackson has been fired as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors despite a 51-win season and consecutive playoff appearances.

The Golden State Warriors fired coach Mark Jackson Tuesday after the team were eliminated by the LA Clippers in Saturday's game seven of their Western Conference opening round series.

The Warriors lost 126-121 on Saturday and 4-3 on aggregate to the Clippers and missed the chance to get into the "Final Four " in the Western Conference.

Jackson coached the Warriors for three seasons, leading them to a 121-109 record, including 51-31 in the latest regular season.

He guaranteed the Warriors would make the playoffs in his first season, when they finished 23-36 after the NBA labor lockout. The Warriors went 47-35 last season and had a memorable run to the second round of the playoffs, and they were 51-31 this season before losing to the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round.

The Warriors had not made the playoffs in consecutive years since the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons. They had made the playoffs once in 17 years before Jackson.
