Britain's Lewis Hamilton grabbed the pole position at the Italian Grand Prix on Saturday after edging out Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg in qualifying at Monza.
The 29-year-old Hamilton clocked a best lap of 1 minute 24.109 seconds, more than two-tenths of a second quicker than Rosberg.
Finn Valtteri Bottas was third fastest ahead of his Williams team-mate Brazilian Felipe Massa.
Danish rookie Kevin Magnussen was fifth and Briton Jenson Button sixth for McLaren ahead of Ferrari's two-time champion Spaniard Fernando Alonso.
