British driver Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes on Saturday managed to get a best lap time of 1 minute and 45.681 seconds at the qualifying session for Singapore Grand Prix, 0.007 second ahead of his teammate Nico Rosberg.

It was Hamilton's second pole in a row and his sixth pole position in 2014.

Hamilton ended up third and second in the first two sessions, but he drove quicker and quicker to achieve the excellent score at the end.

"It was quite an exciting qualifying session. I did some good laps and saw the Ferraris were very good. I locked up into turn one and lost time but I just kept going and it got better and better," Hamilton said in the press conference after the qualification race.

Daniel Ricciardo ended up the third, ahead of his teammate Sebastian Vettel, with the time of 1 minute and 45.854 seconds. Fernando Alonso ranked fifth.

During the three practices earlier on Saturday and Friday, Alonso won excellent performance for the fastest time at both the first and third practice.

The Grand Prix in Singapore is the only street racing held at night in the world, with gorgeous night scene around the current Marina Bay Circuit, reaching 5.065 kilometers long.
