Spain's Jorge Lorenzo gave the home fans something to cheer about when he won the Aragon Moto GP on Sunday.

Lorenzo finished ahead of fellow Spaniard Dani Pedrosa in what was a thrilling finish to the race in which Pedrosa swapped places various times with Valentino Rossi, who finished third.

Rossi can feel reasonably satisfied as the leader of the World Championship had begun the race sixth place on the pole, but it was a disappointing day for reigning world champion, Marc Marquez, who fell in the second lap of the race.

Lorenzo's win sees him reduce Rossi's lead in the Championship by nine points and means that he still holds the destiny of this season's Championship in his own hands.

It was also a good day for Spain in Moto 2 as Tito Rabat and Alex rims finished first and second with overall championship leader Johan Zarco down in sixth place.

Finally, Miguel Oliveira of Portugal won the Moto 3 race with Spain's Jorge Navarro second.
