Ramires' inch-perfect effort would be the winner for Jiangsu Suning in a 1-0 win over Gamba Osaka. |
A super Ramires strike ensured Jiangsu FC took a giant leap towards their first appearance in the AFC Champions League knockout stage after Wednesday's 1-0 win at Gamba Osaka extended their lead at the top of Group H.
Jiangsu's Brazilian midfielder netted the game's only goal on 39 minutes in spectacular fashion after he curled home left-footed from over 20 yards out past the despairing dive of goalkeeper Ryota Suzuki.
Just three minutes earlier, Gamba midfielder Yasuyuki Konno had hit the post for the hosts but that was as close as the J.League side came as they suffered their second home defeat in succession in the continental competition.
The Chinese Super League club, meanwhile, earn their third consecutive win in the AFC Champions League and, at the midway stage, look well placed for Round of 16 ticket.
