Home favourite Ding Junhui came from 2-0 down to score a 5-3 win over Sean ‘The Storm' O'Sullivan in the first round of the Bank of Beijing China Open.

Ding was docked the first frame due to an issue with one of his waistcoat logos, and soon found himself 2-0 down as world number 85 O'Sullivan took the second on the colours.

But Chinese fans at the Beijing University Students Gymnasium had plenty to cheer as their man hit back to win five of the next six frames with top breaks of 50, 123 and 57. Ding now meets Paul Davison in the last 64 on Tuesday evening.

"Sean played a decent game today and started off very well, but made some positional mistakes towards the end. Generally I played well and I'm happy with the win," said world number four Ding, who won this event in 2014.

Mark Selby also survived a potential banana skin as he came from 2-0 down to beat Polish amateur Adam Stefanow 5-3. World number one Selby fired runs of 61, 136, 113, 126 and 87.

Ali Carter whitewashed Stuart Carrington 5-0 while Mark Williams saw off Zhang Anda 5-1 to keep alive his hopes of gaining a top 16 place.
