17-year-old Yan Bingtao paved his way to the quarterfinal clash with John Higgins after defeating Jack Lisowski 6-4 in World Snooker International Championship held in China's Northern city Daqing on Wednesday.

Yan Started the beginning two frames with two breaks of 98 and 103 points, established a sweet early 3-1 lead before the interval. However, Lisowski soon turned the table by winning three consecutive frames. As solid as a rock, Yan managed to dominated also three frames to win the match 6-4 in front of home audience.

"I do enjoy the match now and I've equalled my best performance in ranking events, last eight," said Yan. "Actually I had been last 16 for eight times but lost seven out of them, four in the deciders."

When asked how far could he go, he didn't hesitate to say:"Tomorrow could be a real problem."

John Higgins, the Wizard of Wishaw, ordered his berth in quarterfinal to meet Yan by beating Mark Joyce 6-1 in another match. Though Yan had upset Ronnie O'Sullivan in the first round earlier, he kept a low key talking about the match tomorrow.

"It's even more difficult to play against Higgins for he is excellent at shifting between defense and offence. There's no obvious weak point on him so it is very hard to play him," he said. "I don't think I have any advantages over him...just trying to do my best, if I can play as well as what I did on that night against Ronnie O'Sullivan I may have chance."

"Obviously I am 42, Bingtao is 17, my son is one year younger than Bingtao," Higgins joked about their ages. "The younger people have got better eyes, they can see the pocket more clearly than old players."

He admitted that experience may be the advantage for elder players but still, "if the match starts anybody can win so you should play your best."

World No. 1 Mark Selby defeated Mark Williams 6-4 in the night session to meet Robbie Williams in another quarterfinal.
