Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province signed a framework agreement on collaborative development of youth sports on Dec. 22 in Beijing, in an attempt to promote the development of youth sports in the region in an all-round way.

The highlight of the agreement is to create a youth sports carnival in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. "It will be a well-known regional sports brand jointly built by the sports departments of the region in the next few years," said Qi Jingting, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, at a press conference. The annual carnival, which will be held alternately by Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province, will take various forms such as competitions, exhibitions, experience activities and forums.

According to reports, the agreement includes six aspects of cooperation such as principles, contents and supporting measures. It is designed to encourage cities and districts in the three regions to undertake youth sports events and to give coaches and referees professional trainings on a regular basis.

Focusing on promoting the cooperation on youth winter sports, a Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei skating and skiing training base will be set up in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province. In addition, the agreement also calls for deepening foreign exchanges and cooperation on youth sports by joint participation in international sports events including ice and snow games, soccer, basketball, volleyball, as well as track and field and swimming events.
