Wu Yibing, 18, won both the junior boys singles and doubles titles in the US Open last September. That victory made him the first ever Chinese male to win a major in tennis at any level, and he moved to the junior No.1 ranking for first time after the US Open. It was a life-changing moment, and Wu discussed that with Al Goodman last December in Barcelona.

Wu said the victory was unreal; people came to him after his success in New York and he did a lot of interviews in which he talked about it. As Wu said, he didn't even want to play doubles in the US Open at the beginning, but winning the event made him more confident in the singles final later on.

After the US Open, Wu took an ATP Challenger trophy in Shanghai by beating the world No.62. Wu said he just trusted himself - and he did it.

Meanwhile, Wu said that he would forget all about the achievements he got from junior tennis, and that he will work harder and stay positive. He is looking forward to playing in ATP tournaments.

There was no one from the Chinese mainland who could get in the ATP top 100 and Wu said achieving that is one of his goals. He would select his schedule carefully in the future in order to improve and get a higher ranking, and he believes 2018 is going to be a great year.
