China PR settled for fourth place after Czech Republic won their China Cup third-place playoff 4-1 at the Guangxi Sports Centre Stadium on Monday.

China PR, who lost 6-0 to Gareth Bale-inspired Wales in the semi-final on Thursday, started brightly with a goal after just five minutes of play.

Fan Xiaodong found the net following an assist by Zhao Xuri to give Marcello Lippi's side the lead, which they held on to for the remainder of the first half as they continued their preparations for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019.

Czech Republic, who had enjoyed the majority of possession after going a goal down, came back fighting in the second half as they hit four past China goalkeeper Yan Junling.

Tomas Kalas equalised for Czech Republic in the 58th minute, while Patrik Schick added their second a minute later to put them 2-1 up.

Michal Krmencik (62nd) and Pavel Kaderabek (78th) completed the win for Karel Jarolim's side, who lost 2-0 to Uruguay in their semi-final.

Meanwhile, Edinson Cavani scored the only goal of the game as Uruguay beat Wales 1-0 to clinch the title.
