Spanish footballer injured in fall from hotel balcony

The Spanish Liga 123 (second division) game between Huesca and Albacete, due to be played on Saturday was cancelled after one of Albacete's players, Pelayo Noyo was badly injured following a fall from a hotel balcony.

The game against the side currently leading the Liga 123 had been scheduled to be played t 20.30 local time.

According to reports, Novo fell from the third floor of the hotel where his side had been staying to the game to an inside patio.

Albacete issued a statement on their official website stating "Our player Pelayo Novo was involved in a dramatic accident in the hotel where the team were based. He has now been taken to a hospital in Zaragoza and is reported to be in a stable condition. The player has been accompanied at all times by medical representatives from the football club and we will continue to offer updates on his situation."

Latest reports indicate that although Novo has suffered serious injures, his life is not in danger.
