China's RNG has made history yesterday by defeating South Korea's KZ at the final of the League of Legends' (LOL) 2018 Mid-Season Invitational in Paris.

The audience in Paris roared as Jian Zihao, better known as Uzi, the Attack Damage Carry (ADC) of China's Royal Never Give Up (RNG) double-slayed the ADC and mid solo (MID), two attackers from South Korea's King-Zone Dragon X (KZ).

It was a turning point in the final of the League of Legends' (LOL) 2018 Mid-Season Invitational co-hosted by Germany and France from April 27 to May 20.

During the intense competition, RNG beat their South Korean opponents twice in the first three rounds, despite losing turrets and a dragon buff to their formidable rivals in the beginning of the match.

The fighting moved on to a team battle in front of the second dragon pit where Uzi killed two of the attacking players and led his team to knock down the core building in the enemy's base, securing the first championship of his six-year career as a professional player. He silenced his critics who labelled him an A-level player who always ended up as a runner-up to South Korean teams.

"I've never thought I am the top ADC in the world, even though we have just won the tournament. The victory is not the finishing line, we'll continue to build on the momentum and move on to be the best," said Uzi at the post-match press conference.

In addition to the LOL's World Championships held in September or October each year since 2011, which the South Korean teams have won for the last five consecutive years, the Mid-Season Invitational is the second most important LOL tournament and draws tens of millions of viewers each year.

During all of the four sessions, Edward Gaming was the first Chinese champion at the inaugural edition, while SKT was the two-time winner in the following consecutive years.

RNG entered the scene with their tough, resilient and tactical performances, earning considerable recognition online.

"The curse has been broken. The prophecy fulfilled. And Royal will never give up the Championship of MSI 2018," Froskurinn, an online user, tweeted.

"I can't even imagine how emotional Uzi is, how relieved he is, I'm all choked up," read a message left online by Rusty.
