Beijing plans to build three demonstration venues for the 2022 Winter Olympics, the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games announced at a press conference on May 22.

The three demonstration venues will each be placed in the National Aquatics Center, the Yanqing Alpine Skiing Center, and the Zhangjiakou Genting Resort Secret Garden. The project will launch in June, with construction lasting 32 weeks.

According to officials of the committee, the construction of the venues in the Yanqing Alpine Skiing Center will use as much local terrain as possible, in a bid to minimize environmental impacts, and reduce labor and time costs. The committee will also improve the infrastructure construction by installing water and power facilities in an early stage of the project.

The Beijing Organizing Committee will also enhance its capabilities in weather forecasting and draw up alternate competition dates, in order to ensure all competition events could take place within 16 days.

In an effort to provide better medical services for the Winter Olympics, the organizing committee proposed to set up helicopter stations near the competition venues in Yanqing and Zhangjiakou, to make sure that professional first aid could be accessed within five minutes of an incident.

Additionally, every venue will be equipped with a professional medical group to ensure that injuries are treated in the timeliest manner. The committee will be recruiting and training medical service professionals for the upcoming event.
