Two-time World Championships medalist Lyu Huihui of China improved her own javelin throw Asian record by 10 centimeters on Saturday en route to take the top honors at the Hallesche Werfertage throws competitions in the Germany city of Halle.

The 28-year-old Lyu registered a winning mark of 67.69-meters from her last-round effort to win the women's javelin event on the opening day of the two-day annual tournament. She beat the previous Asian record of 67.59m she set during the qualification phase of the 2017 World Championships in London, where she went on to notch a bronze medal in the final.

Christin Hussong of Germany finished second at 66.36. Kara Winger of United States took the third place at 61.98m.
